FAQ'S - Rocket Boxing Gym


How old do you have to be? Rocket Boxing Gym has programs for all ages generally ages 7yrs and up.



How do I get started? If you have never trained in boxing gym before, then you are required to take an introductory one- on- one session. This session will show you the basics of boxing beginning with fighting stance, jab, cross, hook as well as some basic defense. Please call the boxing gym to schedule your intro session. A waiver must be signed prior to training and if under the age of 18yrs old than needs to be signed by parent. There is no charge for this session.



Do I need special equipment for the intro session? No, Wear comfortable clothes, gym shoes and bring a towel. Equipment will be provided for the session. Equipment will be available to Rocket Boxing Gym members at a discount. Boxing is one of the few sports that require very little equipment.



What happens after the introductory session? You can choose to register as a Rocket Boxer. You can then attend as much as you like during the Boxing gym operating hours. You do not have to follow any class schedules or make appointments, just show up. Your Boxing Coach will be there to show you all of the ropes and always assist in developing your skills. The program will be tailored to meet your individual goals.



I do not want to compete, Can I still come in? Yes! The program was designed so you can get a workout second to none! Learn to train as a fighter without the fight. You can always choose to spar or compete in the future. It's your choice. Ask the coach for more details.



What about memberships? NO CONTRACTS. There are also discounts for family add ons, and package discounts for yearly purchases. We accept cash and credit for your convenience.



How about sparring? Rocket offers sparring for individuals who want to take their training to the next level with coach's approval. You will take your knowledge into the ring and learn application in a controlled and supervised environment. Note: A certain boxing level and understanding have to be achieved before you can start sparring.



Can I compete? Next step is Amateur competition. We will assist you with registering as a USA Amateur Athlete as well match you in amateur boxing shows.



Note from the Coach: Your Coach will always train you as though you are getting ready to compete even if you are not interested in competing. This way you can still learn all of the self defense. Make sure to pace yourself. The success of boxing is in the repetition and conditioning. We encourage you to start slow and build at your own pace.
